Chambres d’Hôtes
Idyllique
Continue on the [D915] for several kilometres, eventually passing under a railway bridge. Shortly thereafter you will come to a roundabout where the by-pass starts.
If you want to go through the town, take the 3rd exit at the 1st by-pass roundabout (signposted “Forges-les-Eaux Centre”), which will take you back onto the [D915]. As you approach Forges-les-Eaux you will see pairs of decorative round street lights, the lake on your left, and the Forges Hotel/Casino complex to your right. Continue straight ahead up the hill and under the bridge. You should then pass a blue "AXA "sign on the left and "La Poste" to your right, followed by a set of traffic lights at the town centre. AT the traffic lights take the second road to the right [D915], signed "Gournay-en-Bray" (+ Paris - Beauvais). Continue along the [D915] out of Forges-les-Eaux, towards Gournay-en-Bray. You will pass a sign for the "China Town" restaurant on your right and a garage with a "Michelin Man" sign to the left. You will then pass a "BP/Castrol" garage on your right, followed by the gendarmerie. You will shortly come to a 2nd roundabout, where the by-pass rejoins the [D915]. Take the 2nd exit (I.e. continue straight ahead, signposted m”Paris - Beauvais - Gournay”).
If you want to avoid the town, take the 2nd exit at the 1st by-pass roundabout (i.e. continue straight ahead, signposted “Paris - Beauvais - Forges-les-Eaux”), and continue straight ahead on the by-pass until you come to the 2nd roundabout (where the by-pass rejoins the [D915] after Forges-les-Eaux). Take the 1st exit (i.e. turn right, signposted “Paris - Beauvais - Gournay”).
The remaining directions apply whether you go through the town centre or take the by-pass.
From the 2nd by-pass roundabout you will be driving slightly uphill through more rural surroundings. After about 3 kilometres, you will see a ‘right-hand bend’ sign by the roadside, followed by a “chambres/table d’hôtes” sign.
As the road bends round to the right, there is a long series of bollards along the left-hand verge. At this point, start signalling a left turn and counting bollards. Do not continue on towards Saumont-la-Poterie (2.5 kilometres further on), as we are not in the village itself.
Turn left between bollards 9 & 10 of this long series. Bollard 10 is marked with a reflective red stripe at the top. There is a traditional Norman house on the corner at bollard 9. Take great care in making this left turn as the side road is quite narrow and there is a ditch on its right-hand side. (If you see the large Château on your right before you have turned left, then you have gone too far!)
You should now be in Chemin d'Hérigny, Saumont-la-Poterie. Congratulations! You have arrived at LE CHAT CHOCOLAT which is the first house on the right (No. 14), set back from the road and approached through a set of white gates.
