LE CHAT CHOCOLAT is well-placed for an overnight stop for those travelling further afield - and we do not operate any minimum-stay policy. Forges-les-Eaux is less than a 2-hour drive from Calais or Boulogne, or a mere 40-minute drive from Dieppe, and is a short, easy drive (on a straight road) from Junction 10 of the A28 autoroute. For those travelling to South West France, Forges-les-Eaux is a good place to break your journey, giving you a reasonable distance to travel on the next day.
For those arriving at St. Malo, Roscoff, Cherbourg, Caen, Honfleur or Le Havre (whether travelling from Ireland, South or South West England, the Channel Islands or further afield), LE CHAT CHOCOLAT is equally convenient as a stopover point if you are travelling to the South of France (perhaps heading for the Autoroute du Soleil), or indeed to any other part of the Continent.
At LE CHAT CHOCOLAT, you will be sure of a very comfortable stay in a typically-French (restored) farmhouse. After travelling all day, many people prefer not to have to go out again to obtain an evening meal and at LE CHAT CHOCOLAT, you can relax in front of our wood-burning stove (or on the patio, in summertime), sipping an aperitif before enjoying a 3- (or 4-) course table d'hôtes meal. (However it isn't compulsory and if you prefer to go out, we will be very happy to give you the lowdown on the many other local 'eateries'.)
The following morning, with batteries recharged from a good meal followed by a comfortable night’s sleep, you will be refreshed to continue your onward journey - unless, of course, you feel tempted to linger for a day or two in Normandy’s rustic utopia.....
LE CHAT CHOCOLAT is only 170 yards off the main Paris to Dieppe road (D915), some 4 kilometres outside Forges-les-Eaux on the edge of the small village of Saumont-la-Poterie in the direction of Gournay-en-Bray. Our turning, Chemin d'Hérigny, is virtually opposite Le Château de Bray, which thus serves as an excellent landmark! Once you've turned into Chemin d'Hérigny, we are the first property on the right - incredibly easy to locate, but far enough back from the main road to escape the noise of traffic.
LE CHAT CHOCOLAT is situated within a 4-acre plot, surrounded on all sides by fencing (with a white ranch-style fence on either side of the long driveway) affording you a user-friendly, secure haven, where it is reasonably safe to leave your car loaded-up overnight - although you can drive right up to our front door to unload your luggage if you wish. There is ample car parking (including an old coach house) to accommodate all our guests’ vehicles. If you wish to take a stroll before dinner, you are welcome to tour the grounds and greet the cattle in the surrounding fields.
